We had a good run, didn't we?

As far as we know (accounts differ), AppleRock was formed in 1977 or 1978 as the Little Rock Apple Addicts, and at some point early in its history the group took on the name "AppleRock."

We met monthly for years, for some time at the Southwestern Bell building downtown, and for some time at the Aerospace Education Center near the LIT airport. In between and afterwards at an electronics dealer, copy shop, grocery store, library rooms, and of course people's houses.

But over time attendance became sporadic. Officers became weary. Life intervened.

On January 9, 2018, the remaining officers voted to stop monthly meetings.

What happened? Well, it was partly the Internet, and partly changing attitudes about what it means to be a "user" or a "fan." And of course in the early days, getting together was the best way to learn. For a lot of folks, helping others in person is still the best. We just don't do it primarily about our computers anymore.

We decided the web site should go dark, too. So sometime in 2020 the applerock.org domain will go up for grabs and this site and email and all that was on it will disappear. If you're reading this on the web, it's going to happen "soon."

For now we still exist on Facebook.

But as for AppleRock.org and all that it ever was, goodbye.
